Register the Handset You need to register the TXC580 before use. To register the additional handset, place the TXC580 handset on the original unit's base for at least 5 seconds. The status LED on the original base will flash indicating that registration is occurring. After 5 seconds, the TXC580 handset will be registered. • In some cases you may need to attempt registration a few times. • You cannot register the handset when the original phone is in use. Using the TXC580 with the Integrated Answering Device If the original unit has a built-in answering system, you can check your new messages, skip, repeat, or delete your messages with the TXC580 handset. For more instructions, see the owner's manual supplied with the original unit. Press 1 within four seconds. Press 4. Press end. • If you press end before the answering system answers, the phone will return to the standby mode. • When the answering system does not answer within 7 seconds, you will hear a beep and the phone will return to the standby mode. • When you receive a call, the remote operation is canceled. -5-
