WD TV Media Player User Manual Wireless Display (Miracast) Miracast is a video streaming specification created by the Wi-Fi Alliance that allows sharing of whatever is displayed on a compatible device's screen with another compatible product such as an HDTV. Combine WD TV with a Miracast enabled device and you can fling exactly what's on your small screen onto your big screen TV. Browse the web, watch movies in 1080p, show off vacation photos, play games and more, all on your TV. Note: Miracast compatibility varies by device. For a list of tested, compatible devices, see Article #5688 in our knowledge base at http://support.wd.com. Set Up Miracast To set up Miracast, the pairing process must be initiated from your source device such as your smart phone or tablet. Depending on the source device's desired pairing method, either Push Button Mode or PIN code mode will be used to pair with your media player. Push Button Mode: If the source device uses Push Button Mode for pairing, by default the media player will automatically accept the connection unless it is currently in playback or setup with another source. If you wish to change this setting for added security, refer to the following steps to set the media player to perform a manual wireless display connection. 1. Make sure the Wireless Display option on the media player is set to On and the Device Pairing in Push Button Mode is set to Manual. 2. Turn on Miracast support on your Miracast-compatible device. See your device's user manual for instructions. 3. Select 'WDTV' from the list of devices that display on your device. 4. If a PIN code appears on the TV screen, enter the code on the device you are trying to pair with, then press OK. SETUP AND ADVANCED FEATURES - 197
