English Amplifier FM SYMPTOM No sound from the center speaker. The sound field cannot be recorded. The DVD/LD, TV or DBS source cannot be recorded on a tape deck, MD recorder or VCR connected to this unit. FM stereo reception is noisy. CAUSE The input signals of the source encoded with Dolby Digital do not have center channel signals. The sound output level of the center speaker is set to minimum. The function "CNTR" in the SET MENU is set to the NONE position. Incorrect sound field program selection. It is not possible to record the sound field on a tape deck or MD recorder connected to the unit's REC OUT terminals. The DVD/LD player, TV or DBS tuner is connected to the unit by only the digital terminals. The characteristics of FM stereo broadcasts may cause this problem when the transmitter is too far away or the antenna input is poor. There is distortion and clear reception cannot be obtained even with a good FM antenna. The desired station cannot be tuned in with the automatic tuning method. There is multipath interference. The station is too weak. Previously preset stations can no longer be tuned in. The desired station cannot be tuned in with the automatic tuning method. This unit has been unplugged for a long period. The signal is weak or antenna connections are loose. There are continuous crackling and hissing noises. There are buzzing and whining noises (especially in the evening). Although you do the operations to recall a preset station, the station cannot be tuned in, or a station other than the preset one is tuned in. The remote control transmitter does not work. Noise will result from lightning, fluorescent lamps, motors, thermostats and other electrical equipment. A television set is being used nearby. Some of the preset station data has been modified because the setting of the FREQUENCY STEP switch was changed after storing the station data. Direct sunlight or lighting (from an inverter type of fluorescent lamp, etc.) is striking the remote control sensor of the this unit. The manufacturer's code has not been set properly. The proper manufacturer's code for the component to be controlled has not been set. The component to be controlled has not been selected. REMEDY Refer to the instruction for the source being currently played. Raise the sound output level of the center speaker. Select the LARGE or SMALL position. Select the appropriate program. Make additional connections between the analog terminals. Check the antenna connections. Try using a high-quality directional FM antenna. Set TUNING MODE to the manual tuning mode. Adjust antenna position to eliminate multipath interference. Use the manual tuning method. Use a high-quality directional FM antenna. Repeat the presetting procedure. Tighten the AM loop antenna connections and rotate it for best reception. Use the manual tuning method. Use an outdoor antenna and a ground wire. This will help somewhat, but it is difficult to eliminate all noise. Relocate this unit away from the TV. Preset the stations again by following the preset tuning procedure. Change the position of the unit. Set the code again. Try entering another code for the same manufacturer. Press the component selector which matches the component to be controlled.
