Power Requirements This instrument can be powered in one of the two ways listed below. Determine which you intend to use, and follow the instructions for setting up. • Using batteries (sold separately) next section (below) • Using a USB power adaptor or USB mobile battery (sold separately) see page 17 NOTICE • Use only the USB cable supplied with the instrument. Using the wrong USB cable can result in sound drop outs. • Make sure that the instrument's power is turned off (the [VAR] lamp is off) before connecting the instrument. Using Batteries This instrument requires four "AA" size, Alkaline (LR6)/ Manganese (R6) batteries, or rechargeable nickel-metal hydride batteries (rechargeable Ni-MH batteries). 1. Make sure that the power of the instrument is off. The [VAR] lamp will be off when the power is off. 2. Open the battery compartment cover located on the instrument's bottom panel. 3. Insert the four new batteries, being careful to follow the polarity markings on the inside of the compartment. 4. Replace the compartment cover, making sure that it locks firmly in place. 5. Setting the battery type. Power on the instrument. While holding down the [FUNCTION] button, press the B3 key (page 29). Each key press switches the battery type. The presses produce a lower pitch beep for nonchargeable dry cell batteries (alkaline and manganese type) or a higher pitch beep for rechargeable batteries (Ni-MH type). 16 SHS-300 Owner's Manual
