Chapter 33 Access Control Table 108 Management > Access Control > SNMP > User Information (continued) LABEL Authentication DESCRIPTION Select an authentication algorithm. MD5 (Message Digest 5) and SHA (Secure Hash Algorithm) are hash algorithms used to authenticate SNMP data. SHA authentication is generally considered stronger than MD5, but is slower. Privacy Password: Enter the authentication password. Specify the encryption method for SNMP communication from this user. You can choose one of the following: Group • DES - Data Encryption Standard is a widely used (but breakable) method of data encryption. It applies a 56-bit key to each 64-bit block of data. • AES - Advanced Encryption Standard is another method for data encryption that also uses a secret key. AES applies a 128-bit key to 128-bit blocks of data. Password: Enter the privacy password. Select the group to define the user authority. By default, there are three VACM groups: Add Cancel Clear Index Username Security Level Authentication Privacy Group Delete Cancel • admin - The user belong to admin group has the maximum access right to the switch. • readwrite - The user belongs to read-write group can view and configure the switch except the confidential part (i.e. user account management and AAA configuration). • readonly - The user belongs to read-only group only can view but no configure. Click Add to inset the entry to the summary table below and save your changes to the switch's run-time memory. The switch loses these changes if it is turned off or loses power, so use the Save link on the top navigation panel to save your changes to the non-volatile memory when you are done configuring. Click Cancel to reset the fields back to your previous configuration. Click Clear to set the above fields back to the factory defaults. This field displays the policy index number. Click an index number to edit the SNMP user. This field displays the username of an SNMP account on the switch. This field displays the security level of the user account. This field displays the authentication method of the user account. This field displays the privacy method of the user account. This field displays the group name to which the user account belongs. Click Delete to remove the selected entry from the summary table. Click Cancel to begin configuring this screen afresh. 33.3.7 Setting Up Login Accounts Up to five people (one administrator and four non-administrators) may access the Switch via web configurator at any one time. 290 MES-3528 User's Guide
