Chapter 6 WAN Setup Table 12 Network > WAN > Internet Access Setup (continued) LABEL DESCRIPTION Tag VLAN ID for Select this option to add the VLAN tag (specified below) to the egree packets outgoing traffic through this connection. Enter 802.1P Priority This is available only when you select PTM in the Transfer Mode field. IEEE 802.1p defines up to 8 separate traffic types by inserting a tag into a MAC-layer frame that contains bits to define class of service. Enter 802.1Q VLAN ID Line IP Address Type the IEEE 802.1p priority level (from 0 to 7) to add to traffic through this connection. The greater the number, the higher the priority level. Type the VLAN ID number (from 1 to 4094) for traffic through this connection. Select the DSL line you want the P-793H v2 to use as a default for outgoing traffic (remote node 1). This option is available if you select Routing in the Mode field. A static IP address is a fixed IP that your ISP gives you. A dynamic IP address is not fixed; the ISP assigns you a different one each time you connect to the Internet. Subnet Mask Select Obtain an IP Address Automatically if you have a dynamic IP address; otherwise select Static IP Address and type your ISP assigned IP address in the IP Address field below. This option is available if you select ENET ENCAP in the Encapsulation field. Gateway IP address Enter a subnet mask in dotted decimal notation. This option is available if you select ENET ENCAP in the Encapsulation field. Specify a gateway IP address (supplied by your ISP). DNS Server First DNS Server Second DNS Server Third DNS Server Select Obtained From ISP if your ISP dynamically assigns DNS server information (and the P-793H v2's WAN IP address) and you select Obtain an IP Address Automatically. Select User-Defined if you have the IP address of a DNS server. Enter the DNS server's IP address in the field to the right. If you chose User-Defined, but leave the IP address set to 0.0.0.0, UserDefined changes to None after you click Apply. If you set a second choice to User-Defined, and enter the same IP address, the second User-Defined changes to None after you click Apply. Select None if you do not want to configure DNS servers. You must have another DNS server on your LAN, or else the computers must have their DNS server addresses manually configured. If you do not configure a DNS server, you must know the IP address of a computer in order to access it. Connection (PPPoA and PPPoE encapsulation only) Nailed-Up Connection Select Nailed-Up Connection when you want your connection up all the time. The P-793H v2 will try to bring up the connection automatically if it is disconnected. 80 P-793H v2 User's Guide

Tag VLAN ID for
egree packets
Select this option to add the VLAN tag (specified below) to the
outgoing traffic through this connection.
This is available only when you select
PTM
in the
Transfer Mode
field.
Enter 802.1P
Priority
IEEE 802.1p defines up to 8 separate traffic types by inserting a tag
into a MAC-layer frame that contains bits to define class of service.
Type the IEEE 802.1p priority level (from 0 to 7) to add to traffic
through this connection. The greater the number, the higher the
priority level.
Enter 802.1Q
VLAN ID
Type the VLAN ID number (from 1 to 4094) for traffic through this
connection.
Line
Select the DSL line you want the P-793H v2 to use as a default for
outgoing traffic (remote node 1).
IP Address
This option is available if you select
Routing
in the
Mode
field.
A static IP address is a fixed IP that your ISP gives you. A dynamic IP
address is not fixed; the ISP assigns you a different one each time you
connect to the Internet.
Select
Obtain an IP Address Automatically
if you have a dynamic
IP address; otherwise select
Static IP Address
and type your ISP
assigned IP address in the
IP Address
field below.
Subnet Mask
This option is available if you select
ENET ENCAP
in the
Encapsulation
field.
Enter a subnet mask in dotted decimal notation.
Gateway IP
address
This option is available if you select
ENET ENCAP
in the
Encapsulation
field.
Specify a gateway IP address (supplied by your ISP).
DNS Server
First DNS Server
Second DNS
Server
Third DNS Server
Select
Obtained
From ISP
if your ISP dynamically assigns DNS
server information (and the P-793H v2's WAN IP address) and you
select
Obtain an IP Address Automatically
.
Select
User-Defined
if you have the IP address of a DNS server.
Enter the DNS server's IP address in the field to the right. If you chose
User-Defined
, but leave the IP address set to 0.0.0.0,
User-
Defined
changes to
None
after you click
Apply
. If you set a second
choice to
User-Defined
, and enter the same IP address, the second
User-Defined
changes to
None
after you click
Apply
.
Select
None
if you do not want to configure DNS servers. You must
have another DNS server on your LAN, or else the computers must
have their DNS server addresses manually configured. If you do not
configure a DNS server, you must know the IP address of a computer
in order to access it.
Connection (PPPoA and PPPoE encapsulation only)
Nailed-Up
Connection
Select
Nailed-Up Connection
when you want your connection up all
the time. The P-793H v2 will try to bring up the connection
automatically if it is disconnected.
