AHA-2740 Series User's Manual Disconnect/Reconnect Disconnect is the function that occurs when a target releases control of the SCSI bus, allowing the bus to go to the Bus Free phase. Reconnect is the function that occurs when a target selects an initiator to continue an operation after a disconnect. DMA See Direct Memory Access E EEPROM Electrically-Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory. An integrated circuit used to store the host adapter configuration. The data stored in the EEPROM can be updated while it is installed on the host adapter. EISA Extended Industry Standard Architecture. A kind of computer bus. EISA, an extension of the 16-bit ISA bus standard, allows expansion devices like network cards, video adapters and modems to transfer data across the PC bus 32 bits at a time. This standard was introduced in 1988. EISA Configuration The operation of configuring a device on the EISA bus through accessing registers in the device by the host. This replaces the method of using jumpers commonly found on ISA bus devices. EPROM Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory. An integrated circuit used to store the host adapter BIOS and firmware. EZ-SCSI See Adaptec EZ-SCSI. F FIFO First In/First Out. A queuing order in which items are removed from the queue for execution in the same order in which they are placed in the queue.
