3 Air Vents The air vents allow cool air to enter and warm air to exit the Notebook PC. Ensure that paper, books, clothing, cables, or other objects do not block any of the air vents or else overheating may occur. 4 Display (Monitor) Output The 15-pin D-sub monitor port supports a standard VGAcompatible device such as a monitor or projector to allow viewing on a larger external display. 5 HDMI HDMI Port 6 DisplayPort Output DisplayPort is a digital communication interface that utilizes differential signaling to achieve a high bandwidth bus interface designed to support connections between PCs and monitors, projectors, and TV displays. DisplayPort is also suitable for display connections between consumer electronics devices such as high definition optical disk players, set-top boxes, and TV displays. A DisplayPort consists of a Main Link, Auxiliary Channel, and a Hot Plug Detect Signal. The Main Link is a unidirectional, high-bandwidth, and low-latency channel used for transporting isochronous data streams such as uncompressed video and audio signals. 7 Microphone Input Jack The mono microphone jack (1/8 inch) can be used to connect an external microphone or output signals from audio devices. Using this jack automatically disables the built-in microphone. Use this feature for video conferencing, voice narrations, or simple audio recordings. Notebook PC User Manual 27
