VGA configuration Single VGA/PCIe card Dual VGA/PCIe card PCI Express operating mode PCIe 2.0 x16_1 PCIe 2.0 x16_2 x16 (Recommend for single VGA) x16 (Single VGA) x16 x16 Triple VGA/PCIe card x16 x16 PCIe x16_3 N/A N/A x4 or x1 (when PCI Express x1_2 slot is occupied) • In single VGA card mode, use first the PCIe 2.0 x16_1 slot (beige) for a PCI Express x16 graphics card to get better performance. • In CrossFireX™ or SLI™ mode, use the PCIe 2.0 x16_1 (beige) and PCIe 2.0 x16_2 (beige) slots for PCI Express x16 graphics cards to get better performance. • When the PCI Express x1_2 slot is occupied, the PCI Express x16 slot (black) will work at x1 link. • When using the triple VGA card mode, we recommend that you use the PCI Express x1_1 slot to install a PCIe x1 device to get better performance. • We recommend that you provide sufficient power when running CrossFireX™ or SLI™ mode. See page 2-35 for details. • Connect a chassis fan to the motherboard connector labeled CHA_FAN1/2/3 when using multiple graphics cards for better thermal environment. See page 2-33 for details.
