OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS ON/OFF SWITCH 1 To turn on the vacuum cleaner, move the switch on the appliance to the "ON" position. (Fig. 19) ON/OFF Switch OFF Fig.19 RUG /FLOOR SELECTOR (CT1500 only) The RUG / FLOOR selector should only be adjusted while the vacuum cleaner is turned "ON" and in the upright position. 1 When cleaning carpets, slide the selector to the "RUG" position. 2 When cleaning bare floors, slide the selector to the "FLOOR" position. (Fig. 20) The agitator will not rotate when the selector is in the FLOOR position. Fig.20 NOTE: Make sure the RUG / FLOOR selector is set to either the extreme front or the extreme back to avoid any problems that may occur. HEAT PROTECTION SYSTEM This vacuum cleaner has a special thermostat that protects the motor from overheating. If the vacuum cleaner suddenly shuts off, push the (ON/OFF) switch to the (OFF) position and unplug the cleaner. Check the vacuum cleaner for a possible source of overheating such as a full dirt compartment or clogged filters. If these conditions are found, empty the dirt compartment and clean the filters (see pages 10, 11) or replace if necessary (see page 13). To maintain the best performance of your vacuum cleaner, we recommend emptying the dirt compartment before the dirt reaches the "Max Fill Line" and clean the filters. 10

RUG /FLOOR SELECTOR
(CT1500 only)
Make sure the RUG / FLOOR selector is set to either the extreme front or the
extreme back to avoid any problems that
may
occur.
When cleaning carpets, slide the selector to the “RUG”

When cleaning bare floors, slide the selector to the “FLOOR”
