Diagnosing and Resolving Shared Disk Problems A-3 Run Object Link Manager On All Nodes Object Link Manager simplifies the creation and maintenance of symbolic links between disk partitions and Oracle data files by placing the symbolic link names directly onto the disk partitions, thereby tracking the symbolic links dynamically. This means that if the order in which disk drives are brought online changes, Oracle8i Server can find the correct data files and can properly start the Oracle database. Object Link Manager also provides a detailed view of the Oracle partitions and their symbolic link associations in the cluster's shared storage. To view the shared storage information from Object Link Manager, perform these tasks: 1. From each node, run the GUI associated with Object Link Manager. 2. Verify that it runs properly and displays no errors. 3. Verify that Object Link Manager can see all Oracle partitions and their symbolic link associations and that this view is consistent across all nodes. 4. Repeat steps 1 through 3 on all other nodes in the cluster. 5. If Object Link Manager does not run properly or displays incorrect Oracle partition and symbolic link information on one or more nodes, proceed to "Restart All Affected Nodes in the Cluster" in this appendix for further instructions. For instructions on installing and using Object Link Manager, see the readme file: \Object Link Manager\readme.txt This file is located on the Compaq Parallel Database Cluster Clustering Software for Oracle8i on Microsoft Windows 2000 CD.
