Using the Internet Wizard Using a Cable Modem Connection If you selected the Cable Modem connection method, the Identification dialog box appears. 1. If your ISP requires a specific hostname for authentication, type it in the Host Name field. The ISP will supply you with the proper hostname, if required. Most ISPs do not require a specific hostname. 2. A MAC address is a 12-digit identifier assigned to every network device. If your ISP restricts connections to specific, recognized MAC addresses, they will instruct you to enter the MAC address. Otherwise, you may leave this field blank. If your ISP requires the MAC address, do either of the following: • Click This Computer to automatically "clone" the MAC address of your computer to the NetDefend firewall. Or • If the ISP requires authentication using the MAC address of a different computer, enter the MAC address in the MAC cloning field. 58 D-Link NetDefend firewall User Guide
