Step Task Command Syntax 2 Place the interface in switchport Layer 2 (switching) mode. Command Mode INTERFACE To view the interfaces in Layer 2 mode, use the show interfaces switchport command in the EXEC mode. Configure a Host Name The host name appears in the prompt. The default host name is force10. • Host names must start with a letter and end with a letter or digit. • Characters within the string can be letters, digits, and hyphens. Task Command Syntax Create a new host name. hostname name Command Mode CONFIGURATION Access the System Remotely You can configure the system to be accessed remotely by Telnet. The S4810 has a dedicated management port and a management routing table that is separate from the IP routing table. Step Task 1 Configure an IP address for the management port. 2 Configure a management route with a default gateway. 3 Configure a username and password.
