10 Replacing the Palm-Rest Assembly WARNING: Before working inside your computer, read the safety information that shipped with your computer and follow the steps in "Before You Begin" on page 7. After working inside your computer, follow the instructions in "After Working Inside Your Computer" on page 9. Procedure 1 Align the palm-rest assembly over the computer base. 2 Press down on the palm-rest assembly to snap it into place. 3 Slide the status-lights board cable, touchpad cable, touchpad status-light cable, and the hot-key board cable into the connectors on the system board and press down on the connector latches to secure the cables. 4 Replace the screws that secure the palm-rest assembly to the system board. 5 Close the display and turn the computer over. 6 Replace the screws that secure the palm-rest assembly to the computer base. 7 Replace the rubber screw caps that cover the screws on the computer base. Postrequisites 1 Replace the keyboard. See "Replacing the Keyboard" on page 23. 2 Replace the optical drive. See "Replacing the Optical-Drive Assembly" on page 17. 3 Replace the memory module(s). Replacing the Palm-Rest Assembly

Procedure
1
Align the palm-rest assembly over the computer base.
2
Press down on the palm-rest assembly to snap it into place.
3
Slide the status-lights board cable, touchpad cable, touchpad status-light cable,
and the hot-key board cable into the connectors on the system board and press
down on the connector latches to secure the cables.
4
Replace the screws that secure the palm-rest assembly to the system board.

Close the display and turn the computer over.
6
Replace the screws that secure the palm-rest assembly to the computer base.
7
Replace the rubber screw caps that cover the screws on the computer base.
Postrequisites
1
Replace the keyboard. See "Replacing the Keyboard" on page 23.
2
Replace the optical drive.
See "Replacing the Optical-Drive Assembly" on page 17.
3
Replace the memory module(s).
See "Replacing the Memory Module(s)" on page 13.
4
