CAUTION: To avoid electrostatic discharge, ground yourself by using a wrist grounding strap or by periodically touching an unpainted metal surface. CAUTION: To help prevent damage to the system board, remove the main battery (see Removing the Battery) before working inside the computer. Removing the Power Button Cover 1. Follow the procedure in Before You Begin. 2. Remove the battery (see Removing the Battery). 3. For the Inspiron 1470, remove three screws in the battery bay and remove one screw from the computer base. 1 computer base 3 latch hook 2 screws (4) 4 battery bay For the Inspiron 1570, remove one screw in the battery bay and remove two screws from the computer base. 1 computer base 3 battery bay 2 screws (3) 4. Turn the computer top-side up, and open it as far as possible. CAUTION: Be extremely careful when removing the power button cover. The cover is very fragile. 5. Carefully pry up the power button cover, disengaging the tabs on the cover from the computer.

Removing the Power Button Cover
1.
Follow the procedure in
Before You Begin
.
2.
Remove the battery (see
Removing the Battery
).
3.
For the Inspiron 1470, remove three screws in the battery bay and remove one screw from the computer base.
For the Inspiron 1570, remove one screw in the battery bay and remove two screws from the computer base.
4.
Turn the computer top-side up, and open it as far as possible.
5.
Carefully pry up the power button cover, disengaging the tabs on the cover from the computer.
