ENGLISH 2. PREPARATIONS CONNECTIONS Leave your entire system (including the DN-C640) turned off until all connections between the DN-C640 and other components have been completed. ■ Connection precautions • Before proceeding with connections or disconnections of cables and power cords, be sure to turn all system components off. • Ensure that all cables are connected properly to the L (left) and R (right) jacks. • Insert plugs fully into the terminals. • Connect the CD output jacks to the amplifier CD or AUX input jacks. • Connect one end of a straight-through RS-232 serial cable into Communication Port on the back of the DN-C640 and connect the other end into the "RS-232C" port on the back of the computer. • Connect the DN-C640 to your network using a straight-through Ethernet cable or directly to a non-networked computer using a cross-over cable. ■ Basic connection Analog audio output (balanced) to connect to analog audio equipment. If necessary, adjust output level with trim volume. Analog audio output (unbalanced) to connect to analog audio equipment. If necessary to adjust output level, you should connect to "VARIABLE" and adjust by remote control. D-Sub Female 25-Pin Parallel Interface to connect to external input trigger device. Connect the included power cord into an outlet providing the right voltage. 1 GND 2 HOT(+) 3 COLD(-) LEVEL R L FIXED VARIABLE SPDIF L L AES/EBU LEVEL R ANALOG OUTPUT R DIGITAL OUTPUT RS232C PARALLEL REMOTE LAN SERIAL NO. Digital audio output (unbalanced and balanced) to connect to digital audio equipment. If necessary, select output signal format in the PRESET MENU. (Both unbalanced and balanced terminal output same signal format set in preset menu.) D-Sub Female 9-Pin RS-232 Serial Interface to connect directly to a computer using a straight-through cable. 10/100 BASE-T RJ-45 LAN terminal for connection to a network using a straight-through cable or to a non-networked computer using a cross-over cable. CAUTIONS: • Before connecting, the POWER ON/OFF switch should be set the OFF position. • Do not touch the power cord with wet hands. • When disconnecting the power cord, always make sure that you take hold of the plug. Yanking out or bending the cord can damage it and/or cause electric shocks or a fire. 10
