Adding or replacing an internal hard drive To add or replace an internal hard drive: Tools You need a Phillips screwdriver to add or replace a hard drive. 1 Remove the left and right side panels by following the instructions in "Removing the left side panel" on page 45 and "Removing the right side panel" on page 46. 2 On the right side of the computer, label and disconnect the cables for all internal hard drives, noting their locations and orientation.
