Setup Adjustments SPEAKER BALANCE ADJUSTMENT This procedure gives the steps necessary to adjust the sound output level balance between the front, center, and rear speakers. After the adjustment is correctly completed, the sound level heard at the listening position will be the same from each speaker. Taking the time to do this setup will yield the best performance possible out of the Digital Signal Processor. Set Master volume to the "Min" position. Master Volume 0 MTh • Max Select the front speakers to be used. Speaker Off A A+B Set to the center position. Ba• ss Tre•ble Set to the center position. Bal•ance • Power on. Power 0 Loudness off. Phono Loudness Mono Audio Direct button off. Audio Direct Set Surround Mode to Dolby "Pro Logic". Surround Mode Select the Center Mode. Center Mode Select the center mode depending on your speaker configuration (see Speaker Configuration section on page 19). Details on the modes are give in the Note below. Notes for Center .Mode Selection 5 speaker Configurations Normal: Select this mode when the center speaker is smaller than the other front speakers. In this mode bass frequencies will come only from the left and right front speakers. Wide: Select this mode when the center speaker is approximately the same size as the other front speakers. This mode sends bass tones to all of the front speakers. 4 speaker Configurations PHANTOM: Select this mode when you do not have a center speaker. In this mode, the center speaker information will come from the left and right front speakers. 17
