Enhancements This section describes enhancements for the firmware 7.6.0.02.00 release. Support for Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) The 8/20q Fibre Channel Switch adds IPv6 support to the existing IPv4 support. Both IPv4 and IPv6 features can be individually enabled or disabled, and can operate concurrently. The default configuration is both IPv4 and IPv6 enabled. Support for Internet Protocol Security (IPsec) The 8/20q Fibre Channel Switch adds support for the IPsec suite of protocols for securing IP communications by authenticating and/or encrypting each IP packet in a data stream. IPsec also includes protocols for cryptographic key establishment. Support for Simple Network Management Protocol version 3 (SNMPv3) Simple Network Management Protocol Version 3 (SNMPv3) is an interoperable standards-based protocol for network management. SNMPv3 is an additional layer of security, which provides secure access to devices using a combination of authenticating and encrypting packets over the network. The security features provided in SNMPv3 are: • Message integrity-Ensures that a packet has not been tampered with during transit. • Authentication-Determines that the message is from a valid source. • Encryption-Scrambles the contents of a packet to prevent it from being seen by an unauthorized source. SNMPv3 security can be enabled or disabled. The default configuration is disabled. Support for Domain Name Service (DNS) Server Configuration The 8/20q Fibre Channel switch adds support for use of a DNS server which manages the host names for a fabric. This enables specifying servers and switches by a meaningful name rather than an IP address. Fix The Secure Socket Layer (SSL) was not supported between the 8/20q Fibre Channel Switch and the SSCM. Communication between SSCM and the switch did not function if SSL security in the switch is enabled (True). SSL is now supported between the switch and SSCM version 2.0. Installation instructions For information about installing these products, see the HP StorageWorks 8/20q Fibre Channel Switch quick start installation instructions, HP StorageWorks 8Gb Simple SAN Connection Kit quick start instructions, and other documentation available on the HP website: http://www.hp.com/go/8Gb-SSC. 6

Enhancements
This section describes enhancements for the
rmware 7.6.0.02.00 release.
Support for Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6)
The 8/20q Fibre Channel Switch adds IPv6 support to the existing IPv4 support. Both IPv4 and IPv6
features can be individually enabled or disabled, and can operate concurrently. The default con
guration
is both IPv4 and IPv6 enabled.
Support for Internet Protocol Security (IPsec)
The 8/20q Fibre Channel Switch adds support for the IPsec suite of protocols for securing IP
communications by authenticating and/or encrypting each IP packet in a data stream. IPsec also includes
protocols for cryptographic key establishment.
Support for Simple Network Management Protocol version 3 (SNMPv3)
Simple Network Management Protocol Version 3 (SNMPv3) is an interoperable standards-based protocol
for network management. SNMPv3 is an additional layer of security, which provides secure access to
devices using a combination of authenticating and encrypting packets over the network. The security
features provided in SNMPv3 are:
Message integrity—Ensures that a packet has not been tampered with during transit.
Authentication—Determines that the message is from a valid source.
Encryption—Scrambles the contents of a packet to prevent it from being seen by an unauthorized
source.
SNMPv3 security can be enabled or disabled. The default con
guration is disabled.
Support for Domain Name Service (DNS) Server Con
guration
The 8/20q Fibre Channel switch adds support for use of a DNS server which manages the host names for
a fabric. This enables specifying servers and switches by a meaningful name rather than an IP address.
Fix
The Secure Socket Layer (SSL) was not supported between the 8/20q Fibre Channel Switch and the
SSCM. Communication between SSCM and the switch did not function if SSL security in the switch is
enabled (True). SSL is now supported between the switch and SSCM version 2.0.
