Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see "Battery" on page 4-7) 5. Remove the hard drive cover (see "Hard drive" on page 4-10). Remove the modem: 1. Remove the 2 Phillips PM2.0×3.0 screws 1 that secure the modem to the computer. 2. Lift up the modem from the computer 2 and disconnect the modem cable 3 from the modem. Reverse this procedure to install the modem. 4-16 Maintenance and Service Guide

Removal and replacement procedures
Modem
Before removing the modem, follow these steps:
1.
Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on,
and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then
unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4. Remove the battery (see
“Battery” on page 4-7
)
5. Remove the hard drive cover (see
“Hard drive” on page 4-10
).
Remove the modem:
1. Remove the 2 Phillips PM2.0×3.0 screws

that secure the modem to the computer.
2. Lift up the modem from the computer

and disconnect the modem cable

from the modem.
Reverse this procedure to install the modem.
