Access Gateway support - san switch guide

Page 6 highlights

Access Gateway support Access Gateway mode is supported on the following HP products only: • Brocade 4-Gb SAN Switch for HP p-Class BladeSystem (Brocade 4012) • Brocade 4-Gb SAN Switch for HP c-Class BladeSystem (Brocade 4024) • HP StorageWorks 4/16 SAN Switch (Brocade 200E) • HP StorageWorks 8/8 SAN Switch and HP StorageWorks 8/24 SAN Switch (Brocade 300) IMPORTANT: Although the HP StorageWorks 4/8 SAN Switch uses the same hardware as the 4/16 SAN Switch, it does not support Access Gateway. Also, Access Gateway mode is not supported with the Brocade 4-Gb SAN Switch for HP p-Class BladeSystem (Brocade 4012) if any half-height BladeServers (BL3xp) are configured in the same sleeve within the p-Class enclosure. Access Gateway connectivity is supported to the above referenced switches and also to the following B-Series switches: • HP StorageWorks EVA4400 embedded switch module • HP StorageWorks 8/40 SAN Switch • HP StorageWorks 8/80 SAN Switch • HP StorageWorks DC SAN Backbone Director • HP StorageWorks 4/256 SAN Director • HP StorageWorks SAN Switch 4/32 • HP StorageWorks SAN Switch 4/32B • HP StorageWorks SAN Switch 4/64 • HP StorageWorks 400 Multi-Protocol Router Access Gateway was initially introduced with Fabric OS 5.2.1b. It allows a switch to operate in a special agmode that allows simplified connectivity between large numbers of servers and the SAN. Access Gateway leverages N_Port ID virtualization (NPIV) to hide the complexity of the servers (both physical and virtual) attached to it while allowing easy SAN connectivity. The edge fabric switch provides all the fabric services, while Access Gateway connects to the edge switch by what appears as a Host Bus Adapter (HBA) connection. This architecture allows the deployment of many additional servers without requiring a domain and the associated fabric rebuild traffic that is prevalent when switches are powered on, or added, or removed from a fabric. Refer to the Brocade Access Gateway Administrator's Guide available on http://www.hp.com/go/san for more information. Access Gateway support in non-Brocade fabrics In addition to being supported in Brocade fabrics, Access Gateway is supported for connectivity to the following: • McDATA/M-Series switches: HP StorageWorks Director 2/64, 2/140; HP StorageWorks Edge Switch 2/12, 2/16, 2/24, 2/32, McDATA Sphereon4400, 4700, i10K Director • McDATA fabrics running EOS 09.00.xx with Brocade Fabric OS 5.2.1b • McDATA fabrics running EOS 09.02.xx or 09.03.xx with Brocade Fabric OS 5.3.0, 5.3.0a, 5.3.0b, 5.3.0c, 5.3.0d • McDATA fabrics running EOS 09.06.xx with Brocade Fabric OS 5.3.1, 5.3.1a, 6.0.0b and 6.0.1a • Cisco MDS 9506, 9509, 9216 and 9216a Multilayer Director switches • Cisco fabrics running SAN-OS 3.0(2a) with Brocade Fabric OS 5.2.1b • Cisco fabrics running SAN-OS versions 3.1(2a), 3.1(3), 3.1(3a) with Brocade Fabric OS 5.3.0, 5.3.0a, 5.3.0b, 5.3.0c, 5.3.0d 6

Access Gateway support
Access Gateway mode is supported on the following HP products only:
Brocade 4-Gb SAN Switch for HP p-Class BladeSystem (Brocade 4012)
Brocade 4-Gb SAN Switch for HP c-Class BladeSystem (Brocade 4024)
HP StorageWorks 4/16 SAN Switch (Brocade 200E)
HP StorageWorks 8/8 SAN Switch and HP StorageWorks 8/24 SAN Switch (Brocade 300)
IMPORTANT:
Although the HP StorageWorks 4/8 SAN Switch uses the same hardware as the 4/16 SAN Switch, it
does not support Access Gateway. Also, Access Gateway mode is not supported with the Brocade 4-Gb
SAN Switch for HP p-Class BladeSystem (Brocade 4012) if any half-height BladeServers (BL3xp) are
con
gured in the same sleeve within the p-Class enclosure.
Access Gateway connectivity is supported to the above referenced switches and also to the following
B-Series switches:
HP StorageWorks EVA4400 embedded switch module
HP StorageWorks 8/40 SAN Switch
HP StorageWorks 8/80 SAN Switch
HP StorageWorks DC SAN Backbone Director
HP StorageWorks 4/256 SAN Director
HP StorageWorks SAN Switch 4/32
HP StorageWorks SAN Switch 4/32B
HP StorageWorks SAN Switch 4/64
HP StorageWorks 400 Multi-Protocol Router
Access Gateway was initially introduced with Fabric OS 5.2.1b. It allows a switch to operate in a special

Adapter (HBA) connection. This architecture allows the deployment of many additional servers without
requiring a domain and the associated fabric rebuild traf
c that is prevalent when switches are powered
on, or added, or removed from a fabric.
