System board NOTE: The system board spare kit includes replacement thermal material. Description Spare part number For use with computer models equipped with discrete graphics subsystem memory 511864-001 For use with computer models equipped with UMA graphics subsystem memory 511863-001 For use with computer models equipped with ATI Mobility Radeon HD4650 graphics with 1-GB 518431-001 memory For use with computer models equipped with ATI Mobility Radeon HD4530 graphics with 512-MB 518432-001 memory For use with computer models equipped with UMA graphics and GM47 chipset 518433-001 Before removing the system board, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 59). 5. Remove the following components: a. Hard drive (see Hard drive on page 69) b. Optical drive (see Optical drive on page 62) c. Switch cover (see Switch cover and keyboard on page 76) d. Display assembly (see Display assembly on page 81) e. Top cover (see Top cover on page 91) When replacing the system board, be sure that the following components are removed from the defective system board and installed on the replacement system board: ● TV tuner module (see TV tuner module on page 66) ● RTC battery (see RTC battery on page 67) ● Memory module (see Memory module on page 64) ● WLAN module (see Bluetooth module on page 94) ● Modem module (see WLAN module on page 72) ● Fan/heat sink assembly (see Fan/heat sink assembly on page 105) ● Processor (see Processor on page 107) Remove the system board: Component replacement procedures 101
