4. MAINTENANCE Familiarize yourself with these home maintenance tasks as proper use and care of your vacuum will ensure continued cleaning effectiveness. Any other servicing should be done by an authorized service representative. ! NOTICE ! A Thermal Protector has been designed into your cleaner to protect it from overheating. When the thermal protector activates the cleaner will stop running. If this happens proceed as follows: 1. Turn cleaner OFF and unplug it from the electrical outlet. 2. Check fullness of bag, change if needed. 3. Inspect the nozzle inlet, nozzle connector, hose connector, hose, wands, secondary filter, and final filter for any obstructions. Clear obstructions if present. 4. When cleaner is unplugged and motor cools for 30 minutes, the thermal protector will deactivate and cleaning may continue. If the thermal protector continues to activate after following the above steps, your cleaner needs servicing. Filter bag When to Replace 4.1 Check the bag when the Sytem Check Indicator (A) shows red. When bag is filled with dirt, the cleaner will not operate efficiently. Discard used bag. ! CAUTION ! Very fine materials, such as face powder or cornstarch may seal the filter bag and cause it to burst even though it is only partially full of dirt. When using the cleaner to remove material of this nature, change the bag often. 4.1 A 4.2 B 4.3 C What to Buy: Filter Bag In order to maintain the original cleaning effectiveness and superior filtration qualities of your cleaner, use only Genuine Hoover® HEPA Filtration Type S disposable filter bags (package number 40108085). How to Replace ! WARNING ! To reduce the risk of personal injury - Unplug before cleaning or servicing. Do not use cleaner without filter bag in place. 4.4 D 4.5 4.2 Disconnect hose from the cleaner, pressing the button (B) on the hose connector and pulling straight out. 4.3 Open the filter bag door by lifting up on latch (C). 4.4 Pull up on the filter bag frame (D) and remove from bag compartment. Discard used bag. Be careful not to dispose of filter bag frame. Close the bag compartment door and reattach hose. 4.5 Press new bag into collar in the direction indicated by arrows. 9 Actual model may vary from images shown.
