O P E R AT I O N Starting the Engine 1. Sit on the seat. 2. Raise the mower deck to the highest position. 3. Disengage the mower blades by pressing the blade switch downwards. IMPORTANT INFORMATION Do not operate the starter for more than five seconds each time. If the engine does not start, wait approximately ten seconds before retrying. 7. When the engine starts, immediately release the ignition key back to the run position. 8. Set the engine speed with the throttle. Let the engine to operate at a moderate speed, approximately mid throttle, for a short time before use. USE FULL THROTTLE WHEN MOWING. Running 1. Release the park brake by pulling the steering / park brake controls inwards to the neutral position at the same time. NOTE: The mower is equipped with an operator presence system. If the operator tries to leave the seat with the engine running, without first setting the park brake, the engine will shut off. 2. Lower the mower deck to the desired cutting height. 4. Move the steering / park brake controls firmly out to the locked position. 5. Move the throttle lever to the middle throttle position. If the engine is cold, the choke control should be pulled up. 3. Move throttle control to full throttle (rabbit symbol). 4. Engage the mower deck by pulling the blade switch up. WARNING! Make sure that no one is near mower when engaging blade switch. 5. Pull control levers inward and slowly move both control levers slightly forward to move forward in a straight line. 6. Push in and turn the ignition key to the start position. 18
