Chapter 1. Introducing the IBM xSeries 445 server Your IBM® ™xSeries® 445 server is a 4-U-high1 rack model server for ERserver high-volume network transaction processing. This high-performance server is ideally suited for networking environments that require superior microprocessor performance, efficient memory management, flexibility, and reliable data storage. Performance, ease of use, reliability, and expansion capabilities were key considerations in the design of your server. These design features make it possible for you to customize the system hardware to meet your needs today and provide flexible expansion capabilities for the future. Your server contains IBM Enterprise X-Architecture™ technologies, which help increase performance and reliability. For more information, see "What your server offers" on page 4 and "Reliability, availability, and serviceability features" on page 6. For service or assistance information, see Appendix A, "Getting help and technical assistance," on page 71. The xSeries 445 server comes with a limited warranty. For more information about the terms of your warranty, see the IBM xSeries 445 Installation Guide. You can obtain up-to-date information about your server and other IBM server products at http://www.ibm.com/eserver/xseries/. The machine type and serial number are located on the ID label located on the left side of the bezel, just above the hard disk drives. You will need these numbers when you register your server with IBM.
