3 Focus. B button Before shooting, frame the opening shot and either press the B button (Tripod) or press the shutter-release button halfway (Hand-held) to focus on your subject. In handheld mode, autofocus is not available after recording begins. 4 Start recording. Recording indicator Press the center of the multi y selector to start recording. Both video and monaural sound are recorded; do not cover the microphone during recording (the built-in Time remaining microphone is located on the front of the camera). A recording indicator and the time available are displayed in the monitor. Exposure can be locked by pressing the AE-L/AF-L button (0116) or altered by up to ±3 EV using exposure compensation (0118). A Focusing During Recording In tripod mode, the camera can be focused by pressing the B button (during shooting, a beep will not sound when the camera focuses, but note that other sounds made during contrast-detect autofocus may be picked up by the microphone). Autofocus is not available in hand-held mode after recording begins; use manual focus to focus during recording (0 83; note that in hand-held mode, recording will end if the shutter-release button is pressed halfway or the B button is pressed). 59
