Basic Photography and Playback: Auto Mode Macro Mode Macro mode is used for taking pictures of objects as close as 3 cm (1.2 in.). Note that the flash may be unable to light the entire subject at distances of less than 30 cm (1 ft.). 1 Press p (macro mode). The macro menu is displayed. 2 Press the multi selector H or I to choose ON and press the k button. The macro mode icon (F) is displayed. If a setting is not applied by pressing the k button within a few seconds, the selection will be cancelled. 3 Rotate the zoom control to frame the picture. The camera can focus at a distance of 3 cm (1.2 in.) at the zoom position at which F and the zoom indicator glow green (the zoom indicator is positioned to the left of K). Macro mode C Autofocus In macro mode, the camera focuses continuously until focus is locked when the shutter-release button is pressed halfway. Therefore, the sound of lens drive movement can be heard. C The Macro Mode Setting The macro mode setting applied in A (auto) mode is stored in the camera's memory even after the camera is turned off, and reapplied the next time A (auto) mode is selected. 33
