Nokia Sound Converter In the example illustrated on the previous page, the Brass 2 channel contains the main melody of the MIDI file. The Brass 1 channel contains the bass part (in this case, played by a tuba sound). Reducing the polyphony of the Percussion channel by one voice brings the cumulative polyphony of the first three channels to four. In effect, you have adjusted the polyphony of your MIDI file to work more effectively with your phone. Your phone is now able to play the first three instrument sounds simultaneously. Save your MIDI file Once you have made the necessary adjustments to the MIDI file, you should save your work. From either the Simple conversion or Advanced conversion screens: 1 Click Next. 2 Click the Save File button. Use the Save As dialog box to save your file with a different file name. Note that ringing tone MIDI files and Standard MIDI files use the same file extension (.mid). You may want to choose a new file name so as to distinguish the customized file from the original General MIDI source file. Transfer to phone Once you have created a new ringing tone and have saved it to your PC, you can transfer the tone to your phone. When your phone receives the new ringing tone, it displays the message New ringing tone received. Press the Options key and scroll to the following options: • Playback - plays the new ringing tone • Save tone- saves the ringing tone to your phone • Discard - discards the new tone and returns you to the Start screen.
