Formatting This function lets you format the internal memory or card. Formatting prepares cards to receive data. • To format the internal memory, do not insert the card. • To format the card, have it inserted. • Before using non-OLYMPUS cards or cards which have been formatted on a computer, you must format them with this camera. All existing data, including protected pictures, are erased when the card is formatted. Make sure that you save or transfer important data to a computer before formatting the card. Formatting

To format the internal memory, do not insert the card.

computer, you must format them with this camera.

Do not do any of the following during formatting as such actions may damage
the card.
Open the card cover or battery compartment cover, or connect or
disconnect the AC adapter (regardless of whether there are batteries in
the camera or not).
