Correct Position for Blood Pressure Measurement When measuring your blood pressure at your wrist, the pressure cuff must be at heart level to ensure consistent, accurate readings. Always rest for about four to five minutes before taking measurements. Press the On/Off and Start button to start a measurement. The cuff will automatically inflate and then deflate when the measurement is complete. Taking measurements while sitting down Fig. 5-a 1. Rest your elbows on a table or other level surface. 2. Hold the arm so that the cuff is at heart level. 3. With the palm of the hand facing up, release any tenseness in your muscles. When taking blood pressure measurements while seated, please place your arm on top of the storage case once you have attached the pressure cuff.
