" Making calls To select the receiver volume Press [ ] or [ ] while talking. ≥Each time you press [ ] or [ ], the volume level will change by 4 levels. Ex. Receiver volume: level 4 TALK VOL To mute your conversation Press [MUTE/CLEAR] while talking. MUTE VOL ≥"MUTE" and the receiver volume are displayed. ≥The other party cannot hear you but you can hear them. To resume the conversation Press [MUTE/CLEAR] again. Answering Calls When a call is received, the handset rings and the IN USE/CHARGE indicator on the base unit flashes quickly. If you subscribe to a Caller ID, the calling party information will be displayed after the first ring (p. 13). If you do not subscribe to a Caller ID service, "INCOMING CALL" will be displayed. In order to view the Caller ID information, please wait until the second ring to answer a call. Lift the handset off the base unit and press [ /FLASH]. ≥You can also answer a call by pressing any button except [OFF] (Any Key Talk). When an optional headset is connected (p. 27), make sure to use the headset to talk with the caller. If you want to have a normal cordless phone conversation, disconnect the headset. Backlit LCD display The handset display will light for a while after pressing a handset button, or when a call is received. 12
