Intercom Preparation Telephone System Advanced Operation Useful Information Intercom between Handsets Handset (When the System Has Two or More Handsets) Intercom calls can be made between two handsets (when the system has two or more handsets, p. 3). Page the desired unit(s) by entering the extension number, shown in the top right of each handset's display. Ex. From the Handset 1 to the Handset 2 1 Handset 1: Press [HOLD/INTERCOM]. Press extension# to call 1-4=Handset 2 Handset 1: To page another handset, press its extension number ([1] to [4]). • The paged handset will ring for 1 minute and the Ringer/Message Alert indicator flashes rapidly. • To stop paging, press [OFF]. 3 Handset 2: Press [C], [s] or [HOLD/INTERCOM] to answer the page. • Any button except [d], [B] or [OFF] can be pressed to answer the page. 4 Handset 1: When the paged party answers, start talking. During an intercom call: • You can switch to the speaker by pressing [s]. To switch back to the receiver, press [C]. • If you have difficulty hearing while using the speakerphone on the handset, decrease the speaker volume by pressing [d]. • If an incoming call is being received, you will hear two tones (incoming call tone, p. 46) and the IN USE indicator on the base unit will flash rapidly. To answer the call, press [OFF], then press [C] or [s]. • When the ringer volume is turned off (p. 17), the handset will ring at the low level for intercom calls. • You cannot change the ringer tone for intercom calls. Intercom
Intercom between Handsets
(When the System Has Two or More Handsets)
Intercom calls can be made between two handsets (when the system has two or
more handsets, p. 3). Page the desired unit(s) by entering the extension number,
shown in the top right of each handset’s display.
Ex. From the Handset 1 to the Handset 2
If the Auto Talk feature is turned on (p. 16), you can also answer a page by simply
lifting the handset off the base unit or charger (for KX-TG5202 or accessory
handset users, p. 3).
When the ringer volume is turned off (p. 17), the handset will ring at the low level
for intercom calls.
You cannot change the ringer tone for intercom calls.
