BEFORE REQUESTING SERVICE WARNING Electric Shock or Personal Injury Hazard. Disconnect the electrical supply before performing maintenance to the vacuum cleaner. Failure to do so could result in electric shock or personal injury from vacuum cleaner suddenly starting. Review this chart to find do-it-yourself solutions for minor performance problems. Any service needed, other than those described in these Operating Instructions, should be performed by an authorized service representative. PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE Vacuum cleaner won't start. 1. Unplugged at wall outlet. 2. Tripped circuit breaker/blown fuse at household panel 3. Hose not inserted fully into canister. Poor job of dirt pick-up. 1. Full or clogged dust cup. 2. Clogged airflow passages. 3. Dirty filters. 4. Suction control is open. 5. Hole in hose. 6. Worn multi-surface nozzle agitator. 7. Worn or broken belt. 8. Dirty agitator or end caps. 9. Dust cup installed incorrectly. 10. Dust cup lid and dust cup missembled Vacuum cleaner starts but shuts off. 1. Hose electrical connection. 2. Tripped thermal protector in canister. Nozzle will not run when attached. 1. Nozzle connections unplugged. 2. Worn or broken belt. 3. Dirty agitator or end caps. 4. Switch not in BRUSH position. Vacuum cleaner picks up moveable rugs -or- nozzle pushes too hard. 1. Suction too strong. POSSIBLE SOLUTION 1. Plug in firmly, move switch to ON or BRUSH position. 2. Reset circuit breaker or replace fuse. 3. Check connection, reconnect hose. 1. Empty and clean dust cup. 2. Clear airflow passages. 3. Change filters. 4. Adjust control. 5. Replace hose. 6. Relpace nozzle. 7. Replace nozzle. 8. See AGITATOR CLEANING. 9. See DUST CUP 10. See PRE-FILTER 1. Check connections, reconnect hose. 2. Reset thermal protector. 1. Plug in firmly. 2.
