The
shell
edge
is

such

silk
and
viscose.
It
is
often
used
as
an
edging
on
underwear.
The
higher
the
needle
thread
tension,
the
deeper
the
shell
edge
feed.

Serge
the
fabric
edge
and
iron
over
the
seam
allowance.

Take
care
that
the
fabric
only
runs
half
underneath
the
presser
foot
while
sewing.
This
intensifies
the
effect
of
the
shell
edging.
Tip:
By
sewing
a
coloured
woollen
thread
into
the
seam
you
strengthen
the
shell
edge
while
also
creating
an
attractive
contrast
in
the
seam.
A
fine
fabric
of
another
colour
can
also
be
used
instead
of
a
woollen
thread.
