English Troubleshooting TAPE OPERATION/RECORDING Recording or playback cannot be made. The tape deck door cannot open. Recorded material sounds strange. - Clean deck parts, see "Maintenance". - Use only NORMAL (IEC I) or IEC type II (Cr02) tape. - Apply a piece of adhesive tape over the missing tab space. - Remove and reconnect the AC power plug and switch on the system again. - Switch off Dolby Pro Logic mode when recording. GENERAL The system does not react when buttons are pressed. Sound cannot be heard or poor quality. The left and right sound outputs are reversed. The remote control does not function properly. The timer is not working. The sound from the external source is distorted. Not all lighted buttons are showing light. The Clock/Timer setting is erased. The system displays features automatically and buttons start flashing. - Remove and reconnect the AC power plug and switch on the system again. - Adjust the volume. - Disconnect the headphones. - Check that the speakers are connected correctly. - Check if the stripped speaker wire is clamped. - Check the speaker connections and location. - Select the source (CD or TUNER for example) before pressing the function button - Reduce the distance to the system. - Insert the batteries with their polarities (+/- signs) as indicated. - Replace the batteries. - Point in the direction of the system's sensor. - Set the clock correctly. - Press the TIMER ON/OFF to switch on the timer. - If recording is in progress, stop recording. - Press AUX to select CDR/DVD mode for listening to the external source. - Press DIM until the DIM OFF display mode is shown. - Power has been interrupted or the power cord has been disconnected.
