To change the volume settings of your call The phone can set the volume level at the start of a call in one of two ways: use a system default level, or use the level that was used in a previous call. The factory setting of the phone is set to use the level of your previous call. 1 After the Device Settings start, press "1" to continue (or "*" to exit) and then "1" again to continue. 2 Press "2" for more options (instead of "1" for volume button settings). 3 Press "1" for volume settings (or "2" for more options) You receive the following message: "You can restore volume to default at end of your last call or preserve volume level from your last call." Continue pressing "1" to read through the message level). 4 Press "1" to preserve level from last call (or "2" for default level.) 5. Each call starts with volume level. To change the size of the display text The phone supports two font sizes for most languages: the large font size and the smaller "normal" size. The factory setting of the phone uses the large font size for readability. Understanding display The Plantronics P540-M display exhibits several kinds of messages and graphics to communicate information about the phone, Microsoft Office Communicator, and the user. Splash screen When you first connect the Plantronics P540-M to the computer, the phone is powered up and the display shows a splash screen that contains information about the phone. Sign in to Microsoft Office Communicator The Sign in message is shown in the display when any of the following conditions apply: • Microsoft Office Communicator is not detected on the computer. • Microsoft Office Communicator is installed on the computer, but it is version 2.00.xxxx.xxx and does not work with the P540-M. • Microsoft Office Communicator is installed, but you are not signed in. • Microsoft Office Communicator voice features are not supported in remote desktop scenarios. You may see the Sign in message even when you are signed in during a Remote Desktop session. • The P540-M is not selected as the device in the Set up Audio and Video page of Microsoft Office Communicator. • The connection to the network is lost. The Sign in message is displayed only after the Splash screen has been in the display for two minutes and the applicable condition has not changed. Please Upgrade Microsoft Office Communicator The Upgrade message is shown in the display when a version of Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 R2 that is not compatible with the phone is installed on the computer.
