Maintaining Your Printer General care and cleaning CAUTION: Always disconnect the power to the printer before cleaning it. Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaners on any part of the printer. ■■ To clean the printer, wipe the outside with a clean, dry cloth. ■■ Keep the surrounding area vacuumed and litter-free. ■■ Protect the printer from tobacco smoke, dust, and liquid spills. ■■ Do not place objects on the printer. ■■ Keep the input tray free of dust, dirt, and other foreign objects. ■■ Keep the printer supplies away from direct sunlight and out of high-temperature environments. ■■ Do not allow chemicals to come into contact with the printer. Cleaning the scanner glass and document backing The scanner glass can get smudged and minor debris can accumulate on the white document backing under the scanner lid. Periodically clean the scanner glass and document backing. CAUTION: Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaners on any part of the printer. Do not spray liquid directly on the glass.
