Polling What is Polling? Polling is used when one fax machine requests another to send a document. This is useful when the person with the original document is not in the office. The person who wants to receive the document calls the machine holding the original and requests that the document be sent. In other words, it "polls" the machine holding the original. Storing Documents To Be Polled (Send Poll) You can program your machine to send documents in your absence when polled by a remote fax machine. It is possible to use a poll code to prevent unauthorized polling of your product. When you secure your product in this manner, only those who know the poll code can poll your product. 1 Load the document you want to send in the Duplex Automatic Document Feeder (DADF) or on the scan glass. See "Loading Document(s) for Faxing" on page 2.3. 2 Make sure that the machine is in the fax idle mode. If necessary, press Fax to enter the fax idle mode. 3 You can use Resolution, Original Type, Darkness and/or Duplex to choose the appropriate sending condition for the document. For details, see "Adjusting the Document Settings" on page 2.6. 4 Press Menu until "Fax Features" appears on the top line of the display. 5 Press the scroll buttons until "Polling" displays on the bottom line and then press Enter. 6 Press the scroll buttons until "Send Poll" displays on the bottom line and then press Enter. Enter a 4 digit Send poll code using the number keypad and then press Enter. 5.8 OTHER WAYS TO FAX
