Settings for the Display (SCREEN SETUP) Choose settings according to the TV to be connected. Select "SCREEN SETUP" in the Setup Menu. To use the menu, see "Using the Setup Menu". The default settings are underlined. Some settings are fixed optimally for the TV and are unselectable. SCREEN SETUP TV TYPE: 16:9 HDMI RESOLUTION: 1920x1080i JPEG RESOLUTION: HD YCBCR/RGB (HDMI): YCBCR BACKGROUND: JACKET PICTURE 4:3 OUTPUT: FULL TV TYPE This setting is automatically set to 16:9. 16:9 All TVs compatible with this DVD player have a 16:9 aspect ratio. HDMI RESOLUTION Selects the type of video signals output from the HDMI OUT port. When you select AUTO (1920 × 1080p) (default), the player outputs video signals of the highest resolution acceptable for your TV. If the picture is not clear, natural or to your satisfaction, try another option that suits the disc and your TV/projector, etc. For details, refer to the Operating Instructions supplied with the TV/projector, etc. AUTO Normally, select this. (1920 × 1080p) 1920 × 1080i Sends 1920 × 1080i video signals. 1280 × 720p Sends 1280 × 720p video signals. 720 × 480p Sends 720 × 480p video signals. JPEG RESOLUTION Selects the type of JPEG resolution so that you can enjoy high picture quality via your HDMI connection. You cannot select this when "HDMI RESOLUTION" is set to "720 × 480p" SD Displays standard definition picture with black frame. HD Displays high definition picture with black frame. HD Displays high definition picture without black frame. (1920 × 1080i) Displays high definition HD picture with black frame at 1920 × 1080 pixels. (1920 × 1080i) Displays high definition HD picture without black frame at 1920 × 1080 pixels. ~ • To view the best picture quality, set this setting to "1920 × 1080i) HD " or "(1920 × 1080i) HD." These settings are effective only when you set "HDMI RESOLUTION" to "1920 × 1080i." • If you set this setting to "(1920 × 1080i) HD " or "(1920 × 1080i) HD," wipe, rotation, and zoom function are not available. • If you want to use wipe, rotation, and zoom function; set this setting to "SD," "HD ," or "HD." • If you set this setting to "(1920 × 1080i) HD " or "(1920 × 1080i) HD," next image appears after a momentary black screen. • The screen may turn black momentarily while loading or unloading a DATA CD or DATA DVD disc. ~ In case of "AUTO (1920 × 1080p)" the player automatically adjusts the video signals that are suitable for the TV. 39
