Advanced HotSync® operations Preparing your computer There are a few steps you must perform to prepare your computer for a modem HotSync operation. Be sure to perform these steps before you leave your office or home so that your computer is ready to receive a call from your CLIÉ handheld. 1 Check the following to prepare your computer for a modem HotSync operation: • The computer modem must be connected to your computer and both the modem and computer are turned on. • No communication applications, such as fax or telephony software, are running on the COM port. • The computer is disconnected from all online services. This helps to avoid conflicts with the COM port. 2 Click the HotSync icon in the Windows task tray (bottom- right corner of the taskbar) and then select Modem from the shortcut menu. 3 Click the HotSync icon in the Windows task tray again and then select Setup from the shortcut menu. Preparing your computer
There are a few steps you must perform to prepare your computer for a
modem HotSync operation. Be sure to perform these steps before you leave
your office or home so that your computer is ready to receive a call from

Check the following to prepare your computer for a modem
HotSync operation:
The computer modem must be connected to your computer and both
the modem and computer are turned on.
No communication applications, such as fax or telephony software,
are running on the COM port.
The computer is disconnected from all online services. This helps to
avoid conflicts with the COM port.

Click the HotSync
icon in the Windows task tray (bottom-
right corner of the taskbar) and then select Modem from the
shortcut menu.

Click the HotSync
icon in the Windows task tray again
and then select Setup from the shortcut menu.
The Setup dialog box is displayed.
