104 Learning the Basics Using the DVD-ROM or multi-function drive Playing an audio CD Before playing an audio CD, turn the volume down. Playing the compact disc at maximum volume could damage your ears. To turn the volume down, use the Volume Control switch or access the Volume Control program (click Start, All Programs, Accessories, Entertainment, Volume Control). If the computer is off, you can press the CD/DVD button to play the CD using QosmioPlayer (refer to "Using QosmioPlayer" on page 159) for more information. If the computer is turned on, Windows Media® Player opens and the CD begins to play. You can use the Windows Media Player program to control the CD. To access the Windows Media Player, you can open it through the Start menu or activate it from the taskbar. NOTE When using Windows Media Player, your system may not be able to activate Stand By or Hibernation modes. To prevent this from occurring, close Windows Media Player before you select Stand By or Hibernation mode.
