110 Mobile Computing Monitoring battery power Determining remaining battery power NOTE Wait at least 16 seconds after turning on the computer before trying to monitor the remaining battery power. The computer needs this time to check the battery's remaining capacity and perform its calculations. 1 Click Start, then click Control Panel. The Control Panel opens. 2 Click Performance and Maintenance. 3 Click the Toshiba Power Saver icon. The TOSHIBA Power Saver Properties window appears. You can also access the TOSHIBA Power Saver Properties window by using the TOSHIBA Console. See "TOSHIBA Console" on page 181. 4 Choose the Power Save Modes tab, then under the Running on Batteries section, click Details. 5 Click the Power Save Mode tab. The current power source and battery power remaining section displays the current charge state of the battery. The value displays as a percentage of remaining battery charge. TECHNICAL NOTE: The computer drains the battery faster at low temperatures. Check your remaining charge frequently if you are working in temperatures below 50 degrees Fahrenheit. The computer calculates the remaining battery charge based on your current rate of power use and other factors such as the age of the battery.
