Chapter 9 Applications The following figure illustrates how synchronization works when you synchronize files from a USB device to the NSA. The same concept applies when you synchronize files from the NSA to a USB device. Figure 103 Synchronizing Files Example 1 Before Sync USB NSA AB After Sync USB AC NSA AB AB Both storage devices contain A. • A copy of files A and B from the USB device is transferred to the NSA. • File A from the USB device replaces file A on the NSA. • File C on the NSA is deleted. USB NSA When you synchronize files in both directions simultaneously, both storage devices transfer unique files to one another. Files with the same file name are synchronized according to their modification date/time. The difference in modification time between the two files has to be greater than five minutes. More recently modified files overwrite the older ones during synchronization. Media Server User's Guide 213
