Never put a child in a rear facing child restraint in the right front passenger seat unless your vehicle has the passenger sensing systemand the passenger air bag status indicatorshows off. ' front passsenger seat unlessthe air bag i- -= ' The passenger sensing system is designed to turn off the right front passenger's frontal air bag if: the right front passenger seat is unoccupied, the system determines that an infant is present in rear-facing infant seat, the system determines that a small child is present in a forward-facing child restraint, 3 A child in a rear-facing child restraint can be seriously injured or killed if the right front is passenger's air bag inflates. Thisbeacuse the back ofthe rear facing child restraint would be very close to the inflatingbag. Be sure the air air bag is off before using a rear-facing child restraint in the right front seat position. is Even though the passenger sensing system designed to turn the passenger's frontal air off bag if the system detects a rear-facing child restraint, no system is fail-safe, and no one can guarantee that an air bag not deploy under will some unusual circumstance, even though it is turned off.
