Key Release Button The key cannot be removed from the ignition of 111anual transmission vehicles l~nless key release the button is used. Starting Your Engine Automatic Transmission Move your shift lever t o PARK (P) or NEUTRAL (N). Your engine won't start in any otl~er position - - that's a safety feature. To restart when you're 1111-cl:;~ciy moving, use NEUTRAL (N) only. NOTICE: Don't try to shift to PARK (P) if' your vehicle is moving. If you do, you could damage the transmission. Shift to PARK (P) only when your vehicle is stopped. To r e ~ ~ x w e key on manual transmission vehicles. the t111-nthe key to the OFF position. Then turn the key t o the LOCK position while pressing the key release button down at the same tinle. Pull the key straight out.
