Practical hints Unlocking/locking in an emergency Manually unlocking the transmission selector lever In the case of power failure, the transmission selector lever can be manually unlocked, e.g. to tow the vehicle. Perform the following two steps simultaneously: Push pin 1 down. Move selector lever from position P. Remove pin 1. i After removing the pin from the opening, the cover will not close fully. Only after moving the selector lever to positions D+ and D- does the cover return to its closed position. 1 Pin Insert a pin 1, e.g. ball point pen, into the covered opening below position D of the shift pattern. The selector lever is locked again when moving it to position P. 214
