Practical hints Replacing wiper blades Removing wiper blades Turn the SmartKey in the starter switch to position 1. Warning! G Turn combination switch to wiper setting II ( page 53). With wiper arms in vertical position, turn the SmartKey in the starter switch to position 0. Fold the wiper arms forward until they engage. For safety reasons, switch off wipers and remove the SmartKey from the starter switch before replacing a wiper blade. Otherwise, the motor could suddenly turn on and cause injury. ! To avoid damage to the hood, the wiper arms should only be folded forward when in the vertical position. 1 Wiper blade 2 Cover 3 Attachment 4 Tab 5 Removing Press tabs 4 together and tilt wiper blade 1 to detach tabs 4 on both recesses of attachment 3. Wiper blade 1 is released on one end. Maintaining its tilted position, slide wiper blade 1 out of attachment 3 in direction of arrow 5. 386
