more than needed for comfort. Seat belts are most effective when the passenger sits well back and straight up in the seat. If the seatback is reclined, the risk of sliding under the lap belt and being injured is increased. Automatic passenger seatback tilt function The passenger seatback will automatically tilt forward and backward during the soft top open/close operation. If you need to cancel this function or when a child restraint is installed in the passenger's seat, push the seatback tilt cancel switch to the CANCEL position. For more information about operation conditions, see "Soft top" in the "3. Pre-driving checks and adjustments" section. For the cancel switch, see "Tilting and reclining passenger's seat from driver's seat" later in this section. SSS0472 1 k Forward and backward Moving the sliding switch forward or backward will slide the seat forward or backward to the desired position. When sliding the passenger's seat backward, be careful not to crush items in the seatback pocket against the rear floor box. 2 k Reclining The reclining feature allows adjustment of the seatback for occupants of different sizes for added comfort and to help obtain proper seat belt fit. See "Precautions on seat belt usage" later in this section. The seatback may also be reclined to allow occupants to rest when the vehicle is stopped and the transmission is in the P (Park) or N (Neutral) position with the parking brake fully applied. Move the reclining switch backward until the desired angle is obtained. To bring the seatback forward, move the switch forward and move your body forward. The seatback will move forward. WARNING The seatback should not be reclined any Safety - Seats, seat belts and supplemental restraint system 1-5
