Check Brakes
Rear Brake Pedal Freeplay and Movement
Rear brake pedal freeplay, the amount of brake pedal movement
from the rest position to the point of contacting the master cylinder,
should be 5/64-10/64 inch (2-4 mm). Adjust pedal freeplay as
necessary (see page 111).
Press and release the rear brake pedal. It should move freely and
smoothly and should return to its rest position quickly when you
release it. You should feel a firm resistance in the pedal within the
first 3/8 inch (8 mm) of pedal travel.
Check Rear Brake Fluid Level
1.
To check the rear brake fluid level, remove the right side cover.
Straddle the motorcycle and bring it to a vertical position.
2.
View the brake fluid through the reservoir. The fluid should be
clear and at a level between MIN and MAX. Add brake fluid if
necessary (see page 112).
