Operation Warnings n Check brake lever travel ADULT SECTION Measure the clearance A between the lever and brake block. Inspection should be made with the lever firmly depressed. Distance A should be no more than 3/4″ (1.9 cm). Excessive travel indicates a need to adjust the brake cable. Refer to the mechanical brake adjustment information on page 61. n Make sure the hood is securely latched The hood of the snowmobile protects the operator from moving and hot parts as well as aiding in sound emission control and various other functions. Under no circumstances should your snowmobile be operated with the hood open or removed. n Test stop switch operation Start the engine and push the stop switch down to test for proper operation. The engine should immediately stop running. n Test tether switch operation Start the engine and disconnect the tether switch to test for proper operation. The engine should immediately stop running. n Remove the ignition key Don't tempt someone to steal or ride your snowmobile without permission by leaving the key in the ignition. n Check lights Start the engine and check that both the headlight and taillight are operating. 33
